Church Histories

The Evangelical Church established a mission field in Livingston County near Chatsworth in a Germany community in 1867. The small group met at the Madden and Bridge Schools. The first Sunday school wasn't organized until 1879. The congregation incorporated in 1888 and built a church shortly thereafter. The church was part of the Chatsworth Circuit along with two other churches.

In 1920 Charlotte separated from the circuit and built a parsonage. In 1927, Charlotte and Fairbury Emmanuel joined as a two-point charge and were interconnected until 1989.

The Emmanuel church began as a prayer meeting class as early as 1865 in Owega Township in the school house and was placed on a circuit with Eppards Point and Weston. A church was built sometime before 1890 but the congregation relocated to Saunemin Township and renamed Emmanuel. Emmanuel closed at the same time as Charlotte.
