Church History

The Buckhorn Methodist Church began as a Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and located near Mt. Sterling, Illinois. The date of organization is unknown but could be as early as mid 1800s. The church was part of the Lynnville Circuit. Not much is known about the church.

When the MECS and MEC merged in 1939, Buckhorn became part of the Jacksonville District. The church closed in 1960 and the building not sold until 1966. Most members transferred to the Mt. Sterling church upon closure.
